Walnut Hills Junior High showcased strong performances at this year’s Junior High Championships held at Princeton High School on January 24, 2026. Competing against some of the region’s top programs, the Eagles displayed determination, teamwork, and impressive individual efforts throughout the meet.

The Walnut Hills relay teams made their mark early in the competition. The mixed 200-yard medley relay team, featuring Sonia Amsterdam-Warner, Sadie Tregre, Sam Wood, and Arlo Perica, finished in 8th place with a time of 2:02.37. Another relay team with Emerson Cure, Mac Brock, Lowell Hubbell, and Sam Schmitt completed the event in 14th place. These performances highlighted the team’s depth and collaborative spirit.

Individually, Walnut Hills swimmers delivered notable results across multiple events. Rose Sikes earned a podium finish in the women’s 25-yard freestyle, claiming 3rd place in a competitive field, while Sadie Tregre placed 2nd in the women’s 50-yard freestyle with a strong 26.64-second swim. Izzy Reising and Haley Gloeckler also contributed with top-15 finishes in the butterfly events, demonstrating the team’s versatility across strokes.

On the boys’ side, Arlo Perica turned in a standout performance in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing 2nd with a time of 25.34 seconds. Sam Wood also placed 5th in the same event, while Sam Schmitt and Theo Lynch posted solid times in the 200-yard freestyle, contributing valuable points for the Eagles.

Walnut Hills head coach Hannah Greulich praised the team’s effort: “Our swimmers showed incredible focus and teamwork today. Many of these athletes are still developing their skills, and it’s exciting to see their hard work translate into strong performances at a championship meet.”

The Eagles’ showing at Princeton reflects both individual talent and the strength of the program’s junior high training pipeline. With several promising swimmers gaining experience at the championship level, Walnut Hills is poised to continue building momentum into the high school program.
